It’s that glorious time again, time to go through my many samples and tell y’all my thoughts. This week, I found myself using a LOT of samples which makes me very happy. This post features a lot of Skinfood (never a bad thing), but also a few brands I haven’t mentioned much previously. So let’s get into it!
Innisfree Eco Safety Aqua Sun Gel 30+ PA++
I was really excited to try this, as I haven’t used many Innisfree products and always get a bit of a thrill when I do. It’s the little things! This suncream has quite a thin texture (hence the gel name), although it’s more of a gel/cream hybrid in my opinion. It smells lovely, but it did make me a bit too greasy. I know SPF generally does that, but it was perhaps a bit too much. Of course, these things are different for everyone, so it could work better on your skin!
Nature Republic The First Sun Liquid SPA50+ PA+++
As you can tell, sun creams are big business in Korea. I actually generally like a lot of them, because they are usually formulated to look quite natural. I found this one to fill this description more than the previous Innisfree one, as it was a thinner consistency and blended nicely into my skin. It actually reminded me of the Chanel UV Essentiel that I loved using. Big thumbs up from me!
illi Total Age Cleansing Foam
I received this cute little bottle in a set with the Cleansing Oil in a Memebox, and only recently did I finish it. I needed to commit, so I made it happen! As I have really sensitive skin, it’s always a great thing when a cleanser doesn’t completely strip it, and this one didn’t. Yes, it foams, but it was gentle enough to leave my skin feeling soft after cleansing. I really love illi so far and am keen to try many more things from them.
I received this from Wishtrend in an order I made recently (more info coming soon!) and was intrigued to say the least. I have never heard of Dr. Color Effect, and I wasn’t sure what a “red serum” was going to entail. However, I really like this! It smells like cherry to me, and my skin seemed to love it. It seems like more of an essence to me, as it’s light and absorbs quickly. I used this after being out in the sun here in KL, and it definitely calmed my skin down. Nice work, Wishtrend!
I talked about this in my Clarins lineup, and just recently finished using it. I’m classifying this as a sample even though it came in a set, because it is mini and cute. Something cool about this eye cream is that it was BLUE… yep, that was definitely a highlight for me. Do eye creams actually work? Who knows. All I know is this one was cooling and lightly moisturising, and a joy to apply. Sounds good to me.
Skinfood Premium Tomato Whitening Toner
I received this on my recent trip to Skinfood, and I’ve been fascinated by this line for a while now. As these are “whitening” products, I can tell this line is intended to brighten and give that inner glow (not actually whiten your skin). Korea loves glowy, bright skin, so this makes perfect sense! I haven’t tried this for long enough to see any longterm effects (I got 2 uses out of this sachet), but I really liked the texture and the scent. It actually smells a bit like tomatoes! I would purchase this for sure.
Skinfood Premium Whitening Cream
As above, this is a brightening product, albeit I haven’t given it enough of a chance to see results. What I can tell you is that this is a lightweight cream that has a silky texture. As Korean skincare routines are all about layering, this one doesn’t weight the skin down or feel too heavy. I am definitely interested to try more of this Premium Tomato line!
Skinfood Honey Rich Body Essence
If you love honey, then this right up your alley. You know how some products say they are scented like one thing, but you can barely smell it? That’s definitely NOT the case with this one – it smells exactly like honey. Exactly! Almost too much, you could say. The texture is definitely that of an essence: clear and lightweight, which was sort of weird to be using not on my face. However, it did moisturise and do what it said on the tin… so yay for trying something new!
Skinfood Quinoa Rich Body Wash
First of all, Gav LOVES this stuff! And so do I, because it’s awesome. It smells delicious and has a nice creamy texture and just feels like heaven. I’ve actually previously reviewed it in this video, so have a read and then go get it, gurl!

And that’s a wrap! I am super proud of myself for using up this many samples this week, how about you? I definitely had a lot of wins this time, so it is with a heavy heart that I finish up this week’s Sample Sunday. Only 7 days till the next one, woohoo!
I hope you’re all having a beautiful weekend, and I’ll speak to you soon 🙂

Whee! I love your Sample Sundays. I actually went and ordered myself a ton of Skinfood samples while restocking some COSRX on RRS the other day. Haven’t done a big sample binge since I first got into AB, and I think it’s going to be fun! Have you tried the Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect First Serum or the honey/propolis essence?
Hehe ohhh you are so cute 🙂 I really need to check out COSRX, it’s all over the AB blogs! Yes I’ve tried that serum, it was a while ago but I liked it – although I didn’t like the cotton pads it came with lol. Can’t wait to see your sample haul, they’re so much fun! 🙂 xxx
