Just Peachy: A Review Of Etude House’s Play Color Eyes Peach Farm Eyeshadow Palette

When it comes to being adorable, no one does it better than Etude House. They rock the cutesy, kawaii look better than any other (big) K-beauty brand, imho. Back when I was in Korea, Etude House always stood out thanks to their BRIGHT pink house-like exterior. Every Etude House store looked like Barbie’s Dream House, and I was here for it.

However, I was never actually there for it, considering I never quite found my vibe with Etude House while I was in Korea. I was a through and through Nature Republic gal, in no small part thanks to the lovely staff at the Guri store, the amazing sales they had frequently, and of course, their sizeable skincare range.

But being back in Australia, and having opened a store in a small city here, I missed the cuteness of K-beauty. There’s obviously a complex spectrum involving high-end, sophisticated products, and pharmacy-style products, organic-based brands and more. But I’m talking about the classic, K-pop version of beauty which, in my opinion, is what Etude House represents.

So now I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole… and I’m really digging it.

Lo and behold, I’ve found myself holding onto a “few” products to keep for myself. For testing purposes, you see. And one is this baby you’ll find below (not the cat, the palette).

The product: Etude House Peach Farm Eyeshadow Palette

Here it is, ta da! This palette is one of the many in the Play Color Eyes series. In fact, when I was back in Korea, they came out with the Play 101 Pencils which ended up going totally bombastic. They were a huge hit, and now they have a bunch of colours and textures available in the pencils.

That’s the fun thing about K-beauty: they’re always trying something new to see what sticks. There’s so many fun, innovative and cute products coming out all the time, and some just disappear without a trace, while others thrive in the sun. It’s a bit like life in that respect!

Here’s all the shades in their glory (try to pick which shade I use the most):

The swatches

We all know by now that good swatches doth not a beauty guru make. They can go horribly awry, look chalky when they’re not, and all sorts of other mess. Although I’m no Jeffree Starr, I do find it useful to do a little bit of show and tell when you’re considering picking up a product. Of course, the shades come out differently on different skin tones, and even differently on your arm compared to your face… but it’s something!

However, I thought I’d make it easy for y’all and did a few lil’ swatches on my arm, as seen here:

I didn’t end up swatching all of the shades, but got the ones I used the most, and some of the prettiest shades in my humble opinion. You can see they all have a certain softness to them, and the shimmer colours really pop. The mattes are less pigmented than other palettes I own, but that can also be useful when it comes to blending.

My thoughts on the Peach Farm Palette

There’s actually two up the top, which aren’t showing up so well ’cause of the light balance. But rest assured they’re there!

There’s a good mix of shimmers, glitters and mattes in here, and I use the top shimmer colour, the pink glitter shade and the light matte peach colour the most. I do want to get more experimental and use more of the deeper, almost berry tones, but all in good time.

In terms of payoff, as I’ve alluded to throughout this post, these shades aren’t necessarily the strongest players. They’re softer, prettier and definitely look amazing, but they may not wear quite as well as an intensely pigmented shade. And thats fine! I like to have a range of products for different days/moods. You can also pair this with an eye primer, which will help to amplify the shadow a lot more.

To be honest, I really love this palette and I wear it daily. I love the soft, shimmery and glittery shades, and I like that I can inject a touch of peach into my everyday. It’s a fun, sweet palette that is slightly outside the realm of normal for me, whilst still being very wearable. And as much as I love ogling out-there makeup on Instagram, sometimes I just need something I can rock on the reg, yknow?

Would I recommend this product?

Yes! Absolutely. It’s perfect if you’re into the soft, babydoll look for sure. I obviously have very fair colouring, so the shades show up on me (some are even kinda dark on me), but it may not pop as well on deeper skintones. However, the shimmers and glitters would look pretty on most skin tones, and as eyeshadow toppers as well.

All in all, this is an adorable eyeshadow palette that is easy to travel with and reach for everyday. It may not be the most intense IG friendly makeup, but it sure is sweet.

Have you tried this pretty palette? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
