Rainy Day Beauty Gems

Today, a rainy Saturday, I decided to declutter. As a known beauty hoarder hoarder, it’s really hard for me to downsize. I just find such an emotional attachment tucked within every inanimate object I own, it seems. I remember when I got it, how I was feeling then, who gave it to me, where were were, and the list goes on. A product is not just a product, you see! A product is love!

Exceppppt when it’s not. And your beauty bits start taking over your closet, your bathroom, your LYFFFF.

And so, I decided to throw out a bunch of stuff. Old lipsticks that were well past their use by date, things that didn’t look quite right, foundation that had separated… it was a beauty wasteland. Now, it wasn’t as dramatic as it may have been in the past, but my trash pile was still pretty swollen, I’ll tell you dat much.

And yet, amidst all the wreckage, there were some gems. Diamonds in the rough, waiting for their time to shine and, thankfully, still safe to apply to the skin. Today, my friends, was their lucky day.

Here are three beauty cuties that I unearthed today, and will now be adding to my errday:

Land Museum Sun Lotion SPF50+ PA+++

raved about this on a previous post, and this still rings true. This little baby is quite possibly the perfect sunscreen. It comes in a wee little bottle, but don’t be fooled: it is small yet mighty!

This sunscreen is the kind that won’t show on your skin; a unicorn, if you will. No white caste, a pleasant smell, and actually works. And on my sensitive skin, this is kind of a boon on all fronts.

This is my last bottle of this amazing product, and as we come into summer down under, I’m going to savour this every day.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

This OG beauty classic is something that I never quite understood. When, exactly, do you use a flash balm? What in the world even is dis?! Hence my hesitation when it comes to this product. But having rediscovered it today, I’m determined to use it and see how it earned its holy grail status.

As you can see in the picture, this balm swatches quite sheer and is a pretty peachy pink colour. This balm is supposed to add radiance, hide signs of fatigue (!!!) and make your foundation last longer, among other things.

From my understanding, it’s a mix between a primer and a brightening face cream/balm, but on a whole other level. I will report back with my scientific findings on this one!

Gorgeous Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Charity

This gorrrgeous single eyeshadow was lurking in the depths of my beauty bag, and it’s far too pretty for that. The perfect shade of rosé, this shimmering shadow is a perfect daily shade (which are the kind of shades I like).

I had a Gorgeous Cosmetics moment a little while back, and really got into the brand. I didn’t know they were Melbourne based or that they were cruelty free, but I’m down with both. From my experience, they’re really high quality and wear well. I also like the simple but expensive feeling packaging of Gorgeous, so this lil beauty will now be back in rotation, as it darn well should.

And so these are three recently rediscovered gems from my beauty stash. Ahhh the joys of decluttering… I feel so Marie Kondo right now!
