My Little Love Affair with Bioderma Hydrabio H2O

Hi friends!

I wrote a little while ago about my amazement with Bioderma’s Hydrabio H2O in my first monthly favourites. I had never heard about this brand in Australia and it was a bit of a revelation. Korean women seem to love their French brands, so I categorise these (especially L’Occitane) as practically Korean. The way these women shop, they surely qualify as honorary Korean brands. Even down to bakeries such as Paris Baguette (my fave) and Tous le Jours, there is just something about the French way of life that Korean people seem to love.

Not that I’m complaining!

So what’s so special about this stuff? Bioderma’s Hydrabio H2O miscellar water is a makeup remover that feels like water. What?! Exactly. No more do you have to worry about makeup removers stinging your eyes or irritating your skin. I haven’t used the other miscellar waters by Bioderma (particularly the much-raved-about Sensibio H2O) but this one is a dream. It caters for very dry and sensitive skin and I would actually go so far as to say that this is a makeup remover that is also moisturising. I know it sounds like I am having a fit here, but I can barely believe how this stuff works.

I had started hearing bits and bobs about Bioderma on my rounds of the beauty blogosphere, but had assumed that it was all pretty pricey. Well, that was until my local Olive Young very generously had a (semi-permanent) sale on a set which included the Hydrabio H2O plus three samples in the Hydrabio range: a serum, a light cream and a mask. And all this for only 25,000won! Considering I got this a few months ago, I was particularly concerned about the dryness of my skin after this cruel winter. Even these days, I am still suffering from some sneaky dryness which keeps popping up. I also have the most sensitive skin known to man, so I am keen to try other products in this range. However, from what I’ve read, the Sensibio range is also gentle and everything from Bioderma is generally awesome.

So raise your hand if you like removing makeup? … yes, I thought as much. If getting dolled up is my eye idea of a tedious necessity (not to pull any punches!), then removing said makeup is practically hell for me. Not the actual act itself, but the thought of the act. I know this sounds very dramatic (because it is…) but honestly, along with blowdrying my hair, removing makeup is one of the most annoying parts of being a girl. The rest is all pretty much fun and rainbows, though!

This post is just basically an ode to the wonder that is Bioderma’s Hydrabio H2O. It is a brilliant concept and I am so glad it exists. As someone whose skin will react to anything and everything, this is a godsend. I am yet to try the three generous-sized samples that came as part of the package, but I have high hopes. If you are sick of taking off your makeup (a la moi) then give this a try. It may be a little expensive, but it really does the job so well. And you can’t put a price on convenience!

What do you think? Is Bioderma worth the hype?

Until next time,

Steph x

  1. I also hate removing my make up! I only use waterproof mascara and I have sensitive eye, sometimes i even go without mascara *gasp* because I cant be bothered to remove it.
I heard wonders about this line though and will definitely stock up when i go to france next week 🙂

    1. Hehe I am the same, on the weekends I like to go ‘au naturale’ (as the French would say) because it’s just SO much easier at night! And I feel your pain, you’re speaking to the queen of sensitive eyes here 😉 I definitely recommend you try it, it may just change your life. Have an amazing time in France, so jealous! Please post about it so I can live vicariously through you 🙂

    1. Oh you should! It’s so great and gentle and just feels like NOTHING. So good. I only just learnt about this so I’m making up for lost time! Thanks for your comment 🙂
