I like to think of myself as a pretty simple gal. Low maintenance is the name of my game (ideally… it doesn’t always pan out this way though). And when I find something I like, I tend to stick to it — like my latest two skincare favourites, the I’m From Rice Toner and Cancer Council’s Face Day Wear Moisturiser.
This year we experienced an incredibly harsh, bitterly cold winter in Melbourne, which means my dry skin is drying out even further… not so cute! Of course, my sensitive complexion doesn’t like me to switch up on it too much, so I do have to be careful with which products I pick and choose. I pulled the I’m From Rice Toner (provided by Wishtrend) out of my stash to give it a whirl a little while ago… and it’s been in my hot little hands ever since.
So, I previously wrote about the I’m From Rice line a while back, but never really went into detail on this one. Let me tell you, the milkiness is palpable! It’s so smooth and lightly moisturising, and has been heavenly to use during this freezing Melbourne winter. My skin is much drier than it used to be, so light layers of moisture tend to work best for me. I mean, I’ve also been slathering on some Palmer’s Cocoa Butter late at night (light-handedly) when it’s been really cold… but building layers underneath that works much better.
The consistency of the I’m From Rice Toner is light, milky and great for sensitive skin. My tender skin doesn’t react to it at all, and just drinks it up. Of course, rice products have brightening properties as well, which always goes down a treat!
As for the second product, the Cancer Council Face Day Wear Moisturiser has been my go-to SPF as of late. Yes, the SPF count is very low right now, but I try to use it to keep the habit and just because I never know when I’ll end up standing out in a park for ages (#preschoolerlife). This one is gentle, but creamy, and doesn’t make my face tight or sticky like other sunscreens can.
It isn’t a zinc-containing practical sunscreen, which is my preference, and I’ll be swapping it out for one when the heat amps up (like today, a 32 degree day… that’s Melbourne weather for you!). But for everyday wear that gives me some level of protection… I like it! It does feel pretty luxurious for a “high st” brand, and I really trust most Cancer Council products for both myself and my kids.
That’s it for today… see you guys soon! X
