As an aspiring minimalist but self-admitted clutterer, I have a tendency to buy pretty things and store them… and then never use them. Or at least not in time. But this is what I’m trying to change, you may already know about my strange obsession with finishing things. Which it brings me to today’s topic: the Sephora Advent Calendar gift box. And oh my, is it ever full of goodies!

To be fair, Gav bought this for me post-Christmas (got it on sale, which I thoroughly agree with when it comes to Sephora! This girl loves a deal), and it has been living under my bathroom sink ever since. Not such a glorious welcome! But today this stops, and having just opened it I’m already delighted.

First of all, its a pretty tin full of cute Sephora minis — what’s better than that? My first experience at Sephora was in fact in Paris (mais bien sur… it was actually because I was on a school trip and we didn’t have it in Australia at the time. Australia in the 90s/early 00s was pretty ghetto, tbh… we’ve come a long way), and I think I bought a lip product. I could not tell you which one at this point, but if it comes to mind I’ll be letting you know!

Of course, in recent years, Sephora finally landed in Australia, and I did go on a bit of a binge back around 2018/19. I was deep into the retail space, running my own store, and felt it was my prerogative, nay, civic duty to keep abreast of the latest beauty trends. For the good of the people, you know.

Anyway, self-delusion aside, this advent calendar is very very adorable and full of great minis. I of course cracked it open in order (accidentally), and stumbled upon the Sephora Glossed Lip Gloss in Boss… and let me tell you, it’s smooooth. I actually often experience dry lips, what with this dry a$$ Melbourne weather, my lack of water-drinking and the second trimester of prgenancy… and yet, when I reach in my bag, I only have my Nars Lipstick in Orgasm, which was a birthday gift from Gav and which I love, but is requires my lips be moister than they usually are. So this little beauty is going straight in my fluffy fried egg handbag (yes really).

The second item is the Sephora Vitamin C & E Super Glow Serum, which I’m excited to use. A long while ago, I loved the By Wishtrend 21.5% Vitamin C Serum, and I definitely found that my skin was so much brighter upon using it. I did once make the error of using a sample of the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright 15% Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum whilst overseas (in sunny LA, to be exact), completely forgetting to only use it at night and went out into the bright LA sun with it on… unattractive peeling ensued, that’s for sure. Please don’t do what I did!

Plus, I have yet to mention that the packaging on this set is suuuper cute. Everything just fits together so perfectly, with a sweet 60s floral design. I actually want to open the rest with Molly, as she loves fiddly little packages (good for fiddly little fingers!) and it will be like opening a million presents at once. Always a good time with a 3-year-old!

So be prepared to hear back about more Sephora minis. Do you have a Sephora favourite? Let me know!
