I never cease to be thrilled when a new Korean beauty brand pops up on the scene. Granted, I’m not quite as part of the zeitgeist as I was when I was actually living in Korea, but with the wonders of modern technology (and with a little help from my friends at Wishtrend), I’m able to discover new, exciting and oh-so-beautiful Korean beauty brands… right from my home here in Australia!
Which is why I was so excited to hear about the new brand Elmt, launched exclusively on Wishtrend. This brand sounded good to me because of its ethos: quality ingredients with a purpose, based on advanced research technology—and providing products with a new perspective. Elmt sounded fresh and exciting, with products using the best cutting-edge ingredients, steering away from cosmetic cliches to give us something new.
So of course, I was keen to get my little mitts on some products to try!
I was kindly sent the Elmt Skin Activating Solution and the Elmt Skin Illuminating Solution by the lovely folks at Wishtrend. First off, I have to say, the packaging is stunning. If you’re into the minimalist, chic, apothecary-style packaging (and who isn’t?!), this will float your boat as well. Just beautiful. Both products came in green glass jars with very neat and clean labelling. The boxes were exactly the same except from a slight variation in tone to identify the different product.
The tones, by the way, are the perfect subtle, earthy shades that are just calming to the eye. And the cardboard of the packaging itself was good quality too. I know this sounds like a ridiculous detail to include, but you know—how you do anything, is how you do everything. Details matter!
The Skin Activating Solution was first on my to-try list, as it targets dehydrated & troubled skin, which I’ve had a little bit of lately (sigh). The key ingredient in this product is the green tea complex, which I always love for purifying the skin. It also contains Skullcap Root for extra antioxidant effects, and is designed to provide advanced skin regeneration. That sounded good to me!
The texture of this product and the Illuminating Solution is just like water, and it provides that beautiful light layer of hydration I’m always looking for as a first step. It doesn’t irritate my skin (#sensitive), which is always a win! You can apply with clean hands or with a cotton pad. I’ve recently found cotton pads to slightly irritate my skin further, so I just used my hands.
The Skin Illuminating Solution was next up, and the combination of Niacinamide, Grape Extract and Pomegranate in this product intrigued me. I’m a sucker for some good niacinamide these days, and as this product targets dry and dull skin (also appropriate for me!), my complexion was ready to soak it all up. I love the smell of both products, but particularly this one, and I found that after use my skin looked brighter and felt fresher.
I’ve used both interchangeably as my toner step, and while I haven’t quite used them for long enough to have a full-length, in-depth review for the ages, my general gist is that they are perfect for my aforementioned sensitive skin, provide moisture without the heaviness, and actually leave my complexion looking brighter. Do with that what you will!
