September Beauty & Art Faves

I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for favourites posts. Whether on blogs, YT channels or elsewhere, a convenient, bite-sized round up of useful/enjoyable products is always interesting to find out about. I’ve actually discovered a lot of my own favourite books/beauty products/artists this way, and so I felt it was only right to lay out my own recent faves for the internet to peruse.

If you’re curious about the tings I’ve been loving recently, here we go…

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow

Ahhh Fenty. That all-consuming, hyped up and fabulous beauty brand by the one and only Riri. I’ve already professed my love/infatuation with this brand, so I’ll leave that for today — except to rave about this scrumptious lip gloss. It’s a perfect universal rosy shade, with a high shine and subtle glitter pigments, and a scent like a bakery. That’s a good thing. Don’t wear if you’re hungry.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman

This book! I hadn’t read in so long (too long) and this novel just snapped me right out of it. I literally could not put it down; had my nose in this thing all day and finished it in a few days. Eleanor is such a quirky character with a lot of heart, and her story is one you’ll want to unravel. It’s warm, touching, a little sad and oh so British. All my fave things.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

I was inspired by Jenn Im to pick up this cult favourite. I think at the time Sephora was having a sale, which brought this baby down to just $200… yasss. To be fair, this fermented essence does seem to brighten up my skin, and the whole time I used it I started getting a bunch of compliments on my skin. Of course it can always come down to a multitude of things, but coming from an ex acne “sufferer”, every single complexion compliment gets filed away to be forgotten never.

This stuff is good. Not for the cheap amongst us, but good nonetheless. Feels like using diamond infused fairy water on your face every morning and eve, which can only ever be a good thing.

Etude House Play Color Eyes Peach Farm Eyeshadow Palette

Oh this pretty little thing. I’ve never quite let go of K-beauty since living in Korea a few years ago now (kinda can’t believe it’s been years). After opening a store in Geelong, I’ve found that Etude House’s cute aesthetic is the perfect gateway into the K-beauty obsession. Of course, I’ve had to test (nudge, nudge) that makeup & skincare products for “quality purposes” (cough). Alright alright, I dipped into my own stash, so sue me! It happens a lot less than you’d think & you’d do it too if you knew how pretty this palette was. Divine!

Tha Carter V – Lil Wayne

I was never really cool enough to be that into Lil’ Wayne. Of course, I knew his features on that Destiny’s Child song (still love it) but never properly heard Tha Carter III or kept up with him. I do vaguely remember some ill-fated guitarist phase he went through, but maybe even he would like us to forget that?

Anyway, yesterday I was waiting for Zach Campbell’s newest video (love him) and saw him mention Tha Carter V (because I obviously wasn’t keeping tabs). Late one night, I pressed play… and actually kinda enjoyed myself. Who knew! Again, I kinda missed the peak of Wayne’s career so this victory lap perhaps doesn’t hold as much sway with me as it may with stans, but I thoroughly enjoyed the bops and some of his sneaky double entendres. Who wouldn’t?!

That’s it for this month, I’ve already got new books/products lined up in the wings for next month, but I’ve gotta leave you wanting more, right?!
