Since becoming a mum, I’ve experienced an abundance of love (and tears), and a great decline of free time. To be honest, I probably had far too much free time beforehand, so this isn’t necessarily a bad thing! But motherhood has made me appreciate the beauty in a quick-step 1-2-3 (maybe just even 1-2), out the door beauty and life routine that keeps fuss to a minimum.

With my baby toddler now turning 3 and into a full-fledged preschooler (!!!), I thought I’d celebrate this milestone, and my newfound increase in personal time, with a few useful favourites that have seen me through.

I’m big into finishing things (or trying to… nothing feels better than throwing out an empty bottle), and recently I’ve come to the end of my beloved Burberry Her EDP. I LOVE this perfume! Gav bought it for me ages ago, and it always makes me happy. It’s sweet, light and feminine… just right. And guess what? I’ve used it down to the very last drop.

An old faithful we ALWAYS have in the house is the Aveeno Stress Relief Moisturising Lotion. Gav is big on this particular lotion as it’s Korean made, and I can’t disagree. Despite loving a Korean skincare routine, I have been known as of late to just slather this on and get out the door. It’s creamy enough whilst being lightweight so it doesn’t feel greasy on my face. Yes, I know that’s not kosher for a beauty blogger but hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

An oldie but a goodie is the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. Yes, everyone knows it, and I think there’s a good reason for it: it just works. I’ve had different, chubby mascaras in the past that just seem to heap on the product and clump up your eyelashes like nothing else… and that’s not really the look I’m going for tbh. This one is pretty simple, basic, and just does what it says. Which is always a relief as a sleep deprived mum on her last legs!

I also love the C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve Balm. My sister in law got me this for a Kris Kringle gift a few years ago… and it’s still good! It’s at the end of its life now but it’s been a real treat for my seemingly permanently chapped lips. Drinking water helps too, of course, but I seem to down endless amounts without it ever making it to my lips…? I think I need to add in a few isotopes for that to take effect!

Last but not least we have the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter in Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal. I’ve loved Fenty Beauty for a while, and although I’ve calmed down on the purchasing (and using) in recent years, there are some staples that are just easy — and effective. I like using this highlighter on my eyelids to look like I care about life (lol, true though). It adds just the right amount of sparkle without going too disco (not that you can ever go too disco, really — the Diamond Bomb is for that). I’ve written about this before, and I’m sure I’ll write about it again.

I’m going to try my best to make this a series, as I’m always finding new exciting favourites (beauty or otherwise) to rave about. Stay tuned for more!
