Let me just write a lil’ post real quick about… the fact I put on makeup today. Huzzah! Whilst I continue to procrastinate build the courage to do a video/recording of the process, I will instead share digital proof of the day I actually decided to fix up my face and feel presentable whilst in quarantine.
When I say quarantine, I mean actual quarantine: we weren’t legally allowed to leave our house for 2 weeks. And in this time, there was nothing more I wanted to do! Even for a homebody like me. Now the ban has been lifted… and I’m all good right here, thanks.
So, here’s some iPhone pics to show you that I am not a complete potato rn:

A little while back, Gavin bought me a travel set of MAC lipsticks — one day I’ll show you the cute packaging, but suffice it to say they’re mini & sweet! I decided to pat on Just Chillin, a deep hot pink matte formulation. For me, a little bit of colour goes a long way, so I really tempered it down (and even then, it was still super bright).
On the eyes, I decided to do something a little bit ethereal, and reached for my as-yet-unopened Fenty Matchstix in Confetti. This was one I originally purchased, then returned… then regretted returning. Oh, the life! I have recently been loving the Starstruck Matchstix (in fact, this is what I used on my cheeks), but Confetti is much more of a ~moment~. The iridescence is really quite stunning, and while it may not be the best textbook “match” for blue eyes, I really like having pretty shimmer fluttering about on my eyelids. So it works!
I also put a teensy little bit of Etude House Play 101 Pencil in #6 to give that little “pop” to the eyes. I actually used to do this a lot, with The Face Shop ex and then got lazy and stopped (lol, truth). But really, if you just add in a touch of white/highlight/iridescence to the inner corner, it really opens up the eyes and draws attention at the same time. Win win!

Mascara was the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, which I’m pretty sure I picked up in some sort of goodie bag. It’s one of those giant, jumbo products, that gives very dramatic eyelashes that aren’t always flattering. Kind of a blunt instrument, if you will.
The base was the Miss Sporty BB Cream, something I picked up in the UK & is good for a light, simple base, as most BB creams are. To be fair, it won’t completely cover the sugar redness I’ve been experiencing (from sugar overdosing), but then I should really lay off the biscuits, ey?!
That’s it for today! As I write this, I’m currently makeup-free and getting inspired to do up my face just a touch. As someone who used to be totally anti-makeup (and is still very makeup-lite), this whole quarantine shebang is really giving me the urge to put in just a little effort, in order to regain a sense of normalcy.
I mean, I’m lucky to be in my house, with loved ones (human + cat), with ample fresh food available… and I still feel just a liiittle funny. Mainly about the outside world, because the internet world is keeping me going! So yes, the little things really make a difference right now.
How about you? How’s quarantine life for you? Also attacking the biscuits?
Until next time,
Steph x
