It is a beautiful morning right now in Melbourne. I unfortunately missed the sunrise this morning (although you would never guess it from this snazzy blog post title!) but I am enjoying it nonetheless. We are still in winter, and although it has been a bone-chilling cold one this year, it is still a very welcome surprise when Melbourne dishes up mornings like this. Peaceful, light and hopeful. Just what we all need a bit more of in this life, am I right?!
As an old-school late riser from waaaay back, getting up early and enjoying the AM has a number of benefits to which I am not always accustomed. Feeling like you are not consistently running behind the clock for example. Being a born and bred night owl (well, maybe more bred than born, but who’s to say except Science?), it is often very difficult for me to pry myself away from whatever activity I have decided is imperative to complete at 12:30am and roll into bed. By doing this, I make it very hard to roll OUT of bed the following morning (or later that morning, as the case may be, and is). It’s a hard nut to crack, for me at least.
Instead, this morning I was awoken by the sound of my mother rather unhappily yelling at my dad for using the hot water while she was in the shower. This may sound rather mundane, but at the time, instead of being gently roused from my slumber, I woke up in a panic because with the first BANG I thought she had fallen over, and then when the second BANG came I thought something had fallen on her legs, crushing her body and perhaps rendering her paralysed. Not the nicest way to wake up but surely not the worst. Following this episode I was unable (understandably) to fall back asleep, and instead chose to rise and shine!
Having returned to this post in the afternoon, I can assure you that my early morning did wonders for my day. Just like science seems to always tell me, I felt more awake, felt less rushed, got more stuff done, and just felt like I was part of the team of life. It’s a good feeling! While the sunny morning came and went, then came and went again, and has now resurrected itself one last time before sundown, I had that sunny feeling inside me all day. Awww, I know, that’s just too cute. But it’s true! Felt good, loved life and even managed to squeeze in some Coco Pops. That’s a win in my books!
I also just had an impromptu photo session out in my backyard in the last of the day’s light, will post the results of that soon. I thought I’d just try my luck and then was overcome with inspiration. Nature is cool. I think that’s what Charles Darwin said, can’t remember though.
I hope you had a lovely day and had at least a little bit of fun, but preferably a lot. Happy Thursday!
Much love,
Steph x
I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your website.
It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to
come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to
create your theme? Excellent work!
Aww thanks! It’s actually just a standard theme, I’ve thought about getting my own made but for now I’m really happy with this one. Glad you like it 🙂
