Beautiful Melbourne, you are full of surprises. One day, cold and windy, the next boiling and sweaty. You always keep us on our toes. Thanks to you, we are ready for anything!
In a late-night conversation last night, my idea of becoming a writer was solidified. Talking to my BF, we put two and two together and I realised it was perfect for me. What do I love? Reading books and magazines, blogs, writing, reading newspapers, writing, reading, writing…
Now that I’ve decided on this goal, I can go at it full steam ahead. I am feeling a a sense of relief and happiness, but also a bit of insecurity about the year ahead. But I won’t dwell on that – what I feel is mainly excitment and pleasure, and anticipation about some of the masterpieces I may create this year! Or at least the experience I will gain. I have started working on a piece to send into a youth media organisation, it is about a couple but I do not want it to reflect my life too strongly. Which it appears to be doing. But I think it has potentialĀ – watch this space!
In other news, I am quietly sweltering in this heat. Although I have yet to leave the house today, I still feel quite lethargic and sleepy. I am thinking of going to the library (another literature-related interest of mine) and borrowing a biography set in new york called City Boy by Edmund White. It is about his life as a gay aspiring writer in New York during the ’60s and ’70s. It’s meant to be fabulous, and I am dying to get my hands on some good NY literature before heading off to the Big Apple. Let me also just say that the idea of the New York bookshops and libraries thrills me to no end and certainly increases my heart beat very rapidly. I want to build the anticipation and make the most of my 14 days in the (second) greatest city in the world.
Wishing you all a good day (remember to stay hydrated), and keep reaching for the stars.
