Today is a beautiful day. That may be a sickeningly sweet way to start a post, but when I’m surrounded by blue sky, warm sun, flowers in bloom, and a freshly brewed coffee in hand… it’s sort of perfect!
And so, feeling as optimistic as I do, I thought I’d take a minute to share some words of wisdom (and Australian joy) to lift you up as well, dear reader.
At my previous job at a bookshop (#dreamjob), I used to love selecting a quote to be shared on the weekly top 10 list. I really took my time to find one — it just had to be right — and in the process, I found myself absorbing a lot of age-old wisdom that would inevitably boost my mood, and change the course of my day.
I genuinely believe language is powerful and has the ability to change lives — for me, expression through the written word is what comes most naturally, and song lyrics are another (beautiful) way I understand the world. In my opinion, talking is overrated — and often abused — but a well thought-out discussion, or even a chance passing comment from a stranger, can introduce new ideas and perspectives that we may otherwise have missed.
Whether you’ve noticed or not, I’ve been blogging every day for (most of) December, and creating something each day has been genuinely relaxing for me. It’s really been a welcome ritual, as moving back and waiting for our house has thrown things a bit off kilter. It’s funny how simple routines and environments can either make or break your productivity, your mojo, and your happiness (really!).
But instead of mourning about a drop in productivity, I’ve decided to give myself a break for feeling relaxed during the festive season, as it’s the time to chill and be merry. At the same time, I’m looking ahead to 2017, and feel like a little boost in motivation wouldn’t go astray. And this doesn’t need to be a huge shift — just small little tweaks that will keep me moving forward.
With that in mind, here’s 11 motivational quotes to brighten up your Thursday, even just a little bit:
“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” ~ Og Mandino
“It always seems impossible until it is done.” ~ Nelson Mandela

And that’s it… for now!
