Sample Sundays: Deluxe Sample Edition

Hey y’all! It’s been a while and I’ve missed you! Rest assured I’ve been a busy little bee over these parts, working hard and also hoarding away a million beauty products to try and clear out my living space once and for all. It’s a hard life, but someone’s got to do it!

But today, I’m bringing back Sample Sundays, with a special Deluxe Sample Edition. I realised that I’d used up a lot of the same Malin + Goetz samples, and I have a few other larger sized samples to talk about, too. So let’s get into it!

Malin + Goetz vitamin b5 body moisturizer

As you probably know, I have used up a million of these samples, and I promise there is a reason behind this. When our family members visited us over here in Malaysia, they all stayed in the same place, which happens to stock Malin + Goetz in the bathroom. Not too shabby. They also all happened to hoard an excessive amount of products to give us, which resulted in a huge overflow of Malin + Goetz everywhere… which isn’t such a bad problem to have.

So, we go through body lotion and moisturiser like wildfire, and this one was no exception. This product is quite ‘zesty’ and smells a lot like it has lime in it. Is that what vitamin B5 smells like? Reading the ingredients on the back, I discovered it also has bergamot extract and ‘absorbent fatty acids and fatty alcohols’. I did find this a really luxurious yet lightweight moisturiser, and certainly kept my skin nice and moist. If I didn’t have a million of these around, I would possibly buy the full size.

Malin + Goetz peppermint shampoo

This one is super minty (as the name would suggest…) and is a really good wake-me-up shampoo. I’m pretty particular with hair products — well, I’m not so as much as my hair is — so it takes a special kind of shampoo to make me happy… and this wasn’t quite it. I found it quite ‘clarifying’ and cleaning… almost a little too much. It’s certainly a fresh shampoo, but I think I require more moisture and frizz-fighting. If you don’t have such high maintenance hair, however, this could work for you.

Muji Sensitive Skin All In One Essence

I picked this up on a whim whilst in Tokyo — not because I needed it, just because I wanted to buy more stuff from Muji. I’m a little bit too into the minimalist, laidback aesthetic of Muji, and anything I can get my hands on is a boon for me. I did practice a little bit of restraint by purchasing the mini size (which I’m classifying as a deluxe sample), and I was also pleasantly surprised by the actual product.

This is, as the name suggests, perfect for sensitive skin, as it has no scent and is incredibly non-irritating. My skin will react to anything given half the chance, but this didn’t even get a rise out of it. No warmth, no tingling — nothing. Super gentle, and really calming as well. If you have sensitive, drier skin, this would be perfect for you. It really calmed my skin down without making a big fuss out of it. Good stuff.

Bioderma Hydrabio Light Cream

I love Bioderma and everything they do. I’m quite obsessed with the Hydrabio Micelle Solution, and this little sample (which came in a set with said cleanser) is no difference. It’s a really lightweight and yet moisturising cream which provides a lot of nourishment — without leaving my skin feeling greasy. It has a clean, soft floral fragrance, and didn’t irritate my skin in the slightest. This would be a good day cream, particularly for those with drier skins. Love this!

And that’s a wrap for today. I hope you’ve enjoyed my little saunter through these deluxe samples, and I hope you look forward to seeing me more regularly. I know I’ve been dropping off the map, and I’m going to make an effort to be more present… because this is what I love. Work is work, but I’m going to focus on what makes me happy as well, which is writing, creating and connecting with you lovely lot.

On that note, what have you been using up recently? I love a good empties/samples hybrid, so do let me know in the comments!
