Hey y’all!

Ready for another round of Sample Sundays? Leggo

Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence

I was really thrilled to receive some Benton goodies in my W2Beauty parcel, because I had heard so much about the brand last year but never tried it. Of course, this was also mixed with apprehension, as my friend Sample Hime had a really bad experience with this product and some were found to be contaminated. So… there’s that. I actually was quite nervous to use it because of this, and I did inspect it thoroughly before applying. It has a nice consistency and applied easily, but to be honest, I really didn’t like the scent. I don’t know if it’s just that or my paranoia, but I wouldn’t buy this again.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream

Same same as above – super thrilled, slightly unsure. This product was all over the blogs last year, and I must say, the texture is pretty dreamy. As you can probably tell from the names, this line features a lot of bee venom and snail mucin, which is like the skincare A-team of the gods. Pretty amazing stuff. Again, the smell was unpleasant but not as much a deal breaker as it was for the essence. The bad news? My friend Elese had issues with this product, but the packaging has since changed which is probably the reason why. I’m really glad I tried this one, although I don’t like the is-it-or-isn’t-it-contaminated controversy around Benton. Although I preferred this product to the essence, I still don’t know what to think!

Skinfood Watery Berry Wrap Mask

I had no idea what to do with this and initially had to Google it to find it. Turns out, it’s like a sleeping mask, so it’s got a super-thick consistency and is meant to seal all the moisture in your skin overnight. Well, it did just that! This does feel a bit heavy upon application, but I know that’s the whole point, so I ain’t mad. If you need a moisture boost, definitely give this a whirl. I really like what I’ve tried from the Watery Berry line (plus the name’s so cute), thumbs up from me!

Dettol Lasting Fresh Anti-Bacterial ph-Balanced Body Wash

Okay, I know you guys are gonna kill me for this… Dettol? Yep, and first let me state my case. This sample has been hanging around our house for so long, it was annoying me so much. I think it came in a magazine or something, but I just kept seeing it and ignoring it until, one day, I could ignore it no longer. Well, this was actually quite pleasant to use, as it has a strong melon scent and a nice thick texture. Plus, the anti-bacterial factor doesn’t hurt when you’re sweating as much as I am here in Malaysia. An unexpected win!

The Face Shop Core Seed Purifying Essence – previously reviewed here

And that’s it for this week! If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you will know by now that my two huge boxes that I sea-shipped from Korea have finally arrived… and they are full of Korean cosmetics. I almost cried, I’m so excited! So expect looooots more reviews, raves and general rabbiting on about Korean cosmetics SOON! 🙂

  1. I should do an updated skincare post – I’ve rebought the new packaging of both the essence and the stream cream and have been using it about a month and it’s going well! I think I’ve gotten used to the scent now because they seem pretty odorless to me now. I was definitely skeptical after that first scare though. Looking forward to more reviews woooo!

    1. Yes you should! I’m super paranoid about it, which is annoying because before all the controversy I reeeeally wanted to try everything Benton. Please keep me posted on your progress, and yep, I have a million things to review, so you’ll be seeing them soon! 🙂 <3

  2. Yeah, so–I used both the Benton essence and steam cream for ages. I never had an issue with either (even though one of the essences changed color on me!) and both were very reliable for my skin. But I got way too tired of worrying about whether they were getting spoiled, so I had to move on. Luckily there are so many great other products that I haven’t missed them at all.

    1. Yeah, it’s a real shame because I was super keen on them before this! There really are too many other amazing products to waste time (and energy!) worrying about contamination. That’s just not fun for anyone! 🙂
