So Langkawi is the Most Beautiful Place on Earth

I am currently in Langkawi on a girl’s trip with my best friend Sehar. We are lucky enough to both be unemployed and luxuriously-inclined, and so we decided at the last minute to book a whirlwind trip to this magical part of Malaysia. And right now I am so glad to be here. There is something so quintessentially islander about the feel of this place: the relaxed pace, the breathtakingly scorching heat, the equally breathtaking (and scorching) food and the helpful people. Most of all, I am happy to be back by the water, as it’s been a long time coming and it just makes me feel relaxed and sane.

I had never really considered holidaying here before, but now I’m already thinking about returning. As you read this, I will have gone island hopping, to a night market and (if everything goes to plan) relaxed during my foot spa treatment. Ohhhh yeah. The vibe here is much slower, which makes it a perfect relaxing, beach town. I feel like right now I can’t get enough of Malaysia. I wonder if this is just the honeymoon period, or maybe it’s just because it really is that awesome?

Oh, also today we had the most incredible curry from a local mamak (curry house). This included a lamb curry, beef curry, chicken curry, biryani, garlic naan and two teh tariks. The total cost? Approximately $3 each. I know everything is relative here in terms of wages and cost of living, but seriously… this food was incredible and so ridiculously cheap.

I really can’t speak highly enough of Malaysia, and if you’re thinking of visiting Langkawi, do it! It’s so beautiful and we’ve barely even touched the surface. I can’t wait to discover more (I’ll report back, don’t you worry about that!).

Until next time,

Steph x
